Microtech MSI Standard Issue pocket knife: an EDC knife with a tactical touch
The Microtech MSI Standard Issue is an EDC knife with a tactical twist. The sheepsfoot blade is sleek and has the distinct style of Microtech. It's perfect for everyday cutting tasks. Several variants of this model are also available, ranging from more utilitarian to distinctly tactical.
Features of the Microtech MSI Standard Issue
The MSI Standard Issue has a total length of 22.7 cm, making it an ideal all-round pocket knife. Ideal for those who do not want to accumulate an extensive knife collection, but prefer to carry one high-quality knife that can be useful in different situations, such as in an urban or outdoor environment, for example. Although the Standard Issue still clearly carries the signature Microtech style, it looks less intimidating than the average tactical pocket knife like the Socom Elite or Amphibian. Still, with its size and appearance, this knife certainly manages to catch the eye.
Microtech MSI Standard Issue blade
The sheepsfoot blade is 9.8 cm long and 4 mm thick. The blade is manufactured from steels such as Böhler M390MK, a premium stainless steel with excellent hardness and long-lasting sharpness. M390MK is optimised for Microtech's production process. Various finishes and coatings are available, including black, apocalyptic stonewash and regular stonewash. As with other series, there is a choice between a plain edge or serrations. A serrated knife is particularly effective for cutting tough materials like rope and plastic, ideal for emergency situations.
Microtech MSI Standard Issue handle
The handle is available in polymer, G10, carbon fibre or aluminium. Aluminium has a high-quality feel, G10 offers excellent grip, polymer is light and budget-friendly, and carbon fibre combines luxury with strength. The handle is equipped with a reversible pocket clip.
Microtech MSI Standard Issue locking mechanism
The MSI Standard Issue is equipped with a generous thumb hole and the Ram-Lok mechanism, which is Microtech's very own version of the Crossbar Lock. Thanks to the single robust internal spring and X-Buttons on both sides, the knife is fully ambidextrous. Paired with precision-milled components, this ensures particularly smooth and reliable operation even under high loads.
