The Kizer Microbe is a minimalist EDC series by designer Maksim Epifantsev, with a symmetrical handle that feels comfortable in both left-handed and right-handed use. Each model has a drop point blade with button lock, in the premium Ki2742 version (M390 steel, carbon) or the V2742 (14C28N steel, aluminium, micarta or G10).
Features of the Kizer Microbe
The Kizer Microbe is a compact EDC series for anyone looking for a pocket knife that hardly stands out, but is always close at hand. Each model has the same drop point blade, the same dimensions (open approx. 13.5 cm) and a button lock, but the finish varies by model.
Blade and steel
The premium Ki2742 models have a blade made from M390 steel (60 HRC), known for its excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. The V2742 models use 14C28N steel (59 HRC), a Swedish steel that is easier to sharpen and offers an excellent price-quality ratio.
Handle
The handle is symmetrical, so the knife feels equally comfortable for left-handed and right-handed users, with the pocket clip mountable on both sides. Materials range from carbon and G10 to micarta and aluminium, with a choice of thumb stud or thumb hole opening.
Design
Designer Maksim Epifantsev drew the Microbe as a subtle, sleek interplay of lines: no unnecessary details, but a comfortable grip. Curious about more Kizer pocket knives? View the full range.
