Kizer Cabox knives

That wide finger ring at the end of the handle immediately gives away what the Kizer Cabox was made for. Jonathan Styles designed it for work where grip matters more than a slim profile: carving, cutting and chopping where you really need to hold on to the knife.

The Kizer Cabox in the field

The blade is long and broad for the size of the knife. That means you get through material in one stroke where a shorter knife would need two or three, and the drop point keeps the tip strong enough for drilling and prying.

The handle is what it is really all about. A semi-circular finger choil behind the edge keeps your hand in place, even when wet or cold. The ring at the back gives you a second point of grip: twisting, pulling through and drawing towards yourself with force without the knife shifting. That makes it suitable for work where you pull rather than push, such as cutting rope or processing game. G10 as a handle material does not expand in damp conditions and can take a knock, exactly what you want from a knife that stays outdoors.

Want a more compact sibling for everyday carry? That is the Kizer Smolt, by the same designer.
