This protection is ideal for everyday outdoor use, think of walking, DIY in the garden or an evening of fishing. If you do drop the lamp in water, there is a risk: IPX4 protects against splashing water, not immersion. If you want more certainty, take a look at our higher protection classes above.

Features of IPX4 torches
An IPX4 torch has a sealed housing with rubber sealing rings round the battery cap and the switch. This means no water can seep inside through those holes, even in heavy rain or splashes from every angle. This class is the entry-level class in waterproofing and suits lamps that you mainly use outdoors, without submerging them under water.
For maintenance, make sure you keep the rubber rings clean and supple: sand or dirt can affect the seal over time. Always replace a damaged sealing ring before using the lamp outdoors again.
