Are your knives in need of sharpening?

The **Skerper sharpening pen** is a versatile sharpening tool. This tool quickly restores an edge, sharpens serrations and presharpens (curved) blades. 

## Sharpening with diamond

The sharpening steel is enhanced with a diamond coating. This is what you sharpen with. Diamond is a lot harder than steel. It can easily sharpen steel. Another property is that diamond hardly gets clogged up with sharpening residue. You don't water or oil as you sharpen your knife. As such you don't have to prepare anything before you start sharpening.

**Presharpening if need be** Diamond needs to be sharpened before use. When you just start using the sharpening steel it is much coarser than the final grind. First try out the sharpening steel on larger tools before you start using it on finer tools. How will you know if the sharpening steel is ready to go? First sharpen one half and compare it to the other half. After using it a couple of times the steel will hardly become any smoother. That is when you know you are good to go.

## Which tools can you sharpen with this pen?

A couple examples:

  * **Garden tools**

Sharpening axes, machetes, spades, pruning shears, knives and other (garden) tools is a piece of cake with this sharpening rod.

  * **Outdoor knives**

You can also use this sharpening pen when spending time on the road. After using your axe or knife, for instance. Sharpen your knife at the campfire.

  * **Fishing**

For anglers, this sharpening steel contains a slot in the round bottom. Perfect when sharpening fishing hooks.

  * **Scissors**

To sharpen scissors, use the flat surface of the sharpening rod. Because the sharpening rod is relatively thin, you can easily reach the difficult corners. 

  * **Serrated knives**

The tapered edge ranges from 2mm to 6mm in thickness. Serrations with the same width, measured from peak to peak, can easily be sharpened with this sharpening pen. Also great when sharpening the serrations of Leatherman multi-tools!

  * **Curved knives**

Do you own knives with a curve in the blade? Use the round side to sharpen it. Because it is curved as well you don't remove the curve from the blade.

  * **Darts**

The slot in the sharpening steel is perfect when sharpening darts. Turn the arrow while moving it through the slot.

  * **DIY Tools**

Every DIY enthusiast needs a sharpening pen. Sharpen your chisels, gouges and other tools. Can also be used to deburr steel.

## What is a sharpening pen

The name perfectly describes the function and shape of this tool. The 'pen' is comprised of four parts: a sharpening steel, pen-shaped casing, clip and twist lock. You store the sharpening steel in the casing. It will not fall out because the sharpening steel is thicker than the lock. The sharpening steel is comprised of two halves. One half is 'conical', i.e. round and tapered. The other half is enhanced with a flat side and a round side with slot. This variety of sharpening surfaces makes the sharpening pen suitable for many different purposes.
