The **Ontario RAT-1 plain edge** is an extremely popular knife. A nice and solid pocket knife, for an even better price. A perfect knife for the more demanding tasks thanks to its large blade. Thanks to its size you can easily put some pressure on it. Cutting jobs become easier. This knife has amazed many knife enthusiasts. 

 We start with the blade. Ontario used AUS-8 steel. A Japanese stainless type of steel that retains its sharpness well. Good to sharpen yourself and get the knife very sharp. Incredibly practical if you use the knife often. The blade has a classic droppoint shape. A very common blade shape you can use for almost all daily tasks. Pointed enough for packages, enough belly to cut things on a base and a flat part to peel an apple.

 The blade is quite thick. That is also one of the reasons why this knife is heavier than comparable knives. The blade is perfectly centred. Finished with a satin coating.

 You can easily open the pocket knife with the double thumb stud. Once opened the blade is locked by a solid linerlock. As such the pocket knife will never close during use. The top of the blade has been enhanced with ridges for additional grip for the thumb.

 The pocket clip can be attached in four different positions. Up, down, left, right. On each side you can find mounting holes. As such you can carry the knife 'tip-up, tip-down' and left and right-handed. You can decide for yourself where you want the pocket clip.

 The handle is made from nylon. It feels solid and fits nicely with the knife. The handle is smooth enough to never damage your pocket. The texture offers enough grip. The handle is nicely shaped and feels great in hand. The handle has also been enhanced with a lanyard eye.

 This knife has functions that appeal to both campers and hunters. With the Ontario RAT-1 you won't get a knife that will last a lifetime. You do, however, get a solid tool for an amazing price. And yet, the knife doesn't feel cheap. The perfect companion to take with you on a daily basis.

gewoon een top folder mes voor mijn grote handen. Veel mes voor een goede prijs. 

La bellezza è soggettiva ma posso assicurare che uno dei coltelli più comodi da usare nella mia collezione. Sicuramente non avrà un super acciaio ma taglia bene ed è facile da affilare, per le mie esigenze va benissimo.

Prima mes. Ben nooit een fan geweest van inklapbare zakmessen -zoals Opinel e.d.- daar deze inherent de stevigheid mankeren van een full tang mes. Door heen de jaren verschillende zakmessen 'versleten' door de bevestingen aan het scharnierpunt stuk geraakt.
Niet zo met dit type mes, Het heeft als mechanisme een ijzeren plaat dit het mesblad zeer stevig op z'n plaats houd.
Zeer tevreden,  Stevig én inklapbaar, mooie balans. 
De tumb knob om het mes te openen is even wennen, maar handig , eenmaal je het onder knie hebt. 

Aspetto e funzionalità ottime, nonostante l'acciaio e l durezza dichiarata ha preso un'affilatura ottima e tiene il filo molto di piú rispetto a chiudibili di marchi blasonati e piú costosi. Ha avuto peró necessità di una sistemazione al liner che non si ingaggiava in modo sicuro sul tallone della lama e una stretta alla viteria delle guancette e al pivot.

De meeste mensen die onderzoek gedaan hebben naar goede betaalbare zakmessen zijn dit model van Ontario 100% tegengekomen. Ik elk lijstje van goede zakmessen voor mensen die net met deze hobby starten, of gewoon een zakmes nodig hebben staat dit ding.

Prijskwaliteit bij dit mes is gewoon top! Ik heb bewust voor dit model gekozen ipv de het model met D2 staal. Dit zachtere staal wordt sneller bot, maar het is ook onwijs makkelijk om weer dusdanig scherp te krijgen dat je de haren van je arm ermee kunt scheren.

een echte aanrader als je een betaalbaar goed mes wil hebben. Ik heb hem onwijs veel gebruikt op mijn campeervakantie en gebruik hem nu thuis om karton klein te maken.
