The **Mora Carving Basic 12658** is a classic wood carving knife, in a modern jacket. To cut out a wooden spoon or a classic Swedish Dala horse from a piece of wood: the Mora Carving Basic gives you the flexibility and grip you need.

 The blade of the Mora Carving Basic is very similar to the blade of the popular Mora Carving 106. That knife, however, has a wooden handle, this Basic has a polypropylene handle. More stable and less fragile. In addition, there is a subtle protrusion at the front of the handle that makes sure you don't slip and end up on the blade. At the same time the ergonomic shapes are so subtle they don't cause any ‘hotspots’ with long-term use. The blade is made from stainless steel. Its pointed shape enables you to carry out many different tasks.

 You can carry the knife on your belt in the simple plastic sheath. Prefer to put it in your bag? You can easily remove the belt loop!

Deze als cadeautje gekocht voor een beginner, ook qua onderhoud. 

Ikzelf heb de gelamineerde carbonstalen versie met houten handvat.

Het met zelf ziet er redelijk uit, de oncomfortabele plastic handgreep is slecht afgewerkt.  Op sommige plaatsen zitten scherpe randjes, resten van het gietproces. Deze zullen absoluut leiden tot blaarvorming. 

Daarbij, de vorm van het handvat is niet geschikt om langdurig in gebruik te hebben, te "plat" op de beide zijdes, waardoor naar verwachting bij mensen met langere vingers sneller kramp zal optreden, ook al omdat de vorm dwingend stuurt hoe je het mes kunt vasthouden. Bepaalde bochten en orecisiewerk tijdens het snijden zijn daardoor lastiger uit te voeren.

Desalniettemin, voor een beginner die korte houtsnijsessies van maximaal een uur doet, prima ding. Ook briljant om op te oefenen qua stroppen, wetten en slijpen. Gaat het gruwelijk mis, is er geen man overboord. Gewoon opnieuw beginnen. Breekt de punt? Tijd om te leren hoe je een mes kunt redden. Enig nadeel van deze, is dat rvs dat wat moeilijker maakt dan eenzelfde model mes in carbonstaal.

Ben je van plan langere tijd te werken, of complexere grips en snijmethoden te gebruiken, raad ik toch echt de carbonstalen of gelamineerde Mora 106 en of 120 met houten handgreep aan. Dat zijn echt de beste all round houtsnijmessen die er zijn.

Man bekommt was man erwartet. Sehr taugliches Messer zu einem sehr guten Preis.

Het mora carving basisschool is een uitstekend houtsnijmes voor grote delen en de punt van het mes werkt prima voor de kleinere stukken bv neus en mond.
Ik ben zelf zeer blij met dit mes ligt fijn in de hand en is goed scherp.8

Een bovengemiddeld goed mes voor deze prijs. Het is een heerlijk wood carving mes, die lang scherp blijft. Uiteraard weer snel bezorgd door K&T!
