I am a member of the local nature reserve and every spring we clear away the winter dead growth and also clear the pathways of new growth. The blackberry shoots are a particular nuisance. I own a few KABAR knives but they're all a little light for this work and I don't want to be carrying a machete around. This Becker has just the right amount of heft to chop with and it balances well so even when I'm tired after a long day clearing the paths it should still be easy to use. It's heavy, but still sits well on the hip. Some folk have complained about the sheath, and it is floppy when held in the hand, but it's fine when worn on the belt. The knife is no slicer, but out of the box it cuts paper. Good enough for me. Built like a tank. I bought the additional Micarta handles and they do provide a better grip, but the original grip slabs are actually fine. If you feel the originals are a bit smooth just rough them up with some coarse sandpaper. Will get out and use it as soon as the weather clears a bit.
