The **Mizuno Seisakujo All Steel Small Masakari Japanese axe, 010-054** is a hand axe and great for daily use. The axe is made for the precise cutting jobs and not for blunt blows. Use the axes with a little bit of love and you will experience unparalleled speed and efficiency.

 ## Axe head of the Mizuno Seisakujo All Steel Bakin Japanese axe

 The axe head is made from one layer of carbon steel. When you look at the axe head closely, you can see oil residue. This is a coating that was applied to protect it during transportation. This is the way it should be, and it will wear off by itself. The head of the axe is also enhanced with a couple of Japanese markings that look kind of mysterious. On both sides of the head you can find stripes. It looks remarkable, but it also has a special meaning. The seven stripes represent the eight mountains, only the eighth is not mentioned because it could bring you bad luck.

 ## Handle of the Mizuno Seisakujo All Steel Split Kiwari Japanese axe

 The handle is straight and made from Japanese white oak. Please note: the wooden handle is not treated. To keep the axe in great shape we recommend you lacquer the axe yourself.

 ## Mizuno axes: the history

 The Japanese Mizuno Seisakujo axes are made by hand in Sanjo, Japan. Created because of the Japanese legend of Mizuno-san, the axes are enhanced with unique and traditional patterns from different regions in the country. Today the axes are made by Isao Mizuno and his sons. They stay true to the techniques from history when it comes to forging Japanese axes. You can tell when you look at the magnificent shape and finish of the axes.

Ästhetische kurze Axt.
Das Holz war (typisch für japanische Äxte) nicht behandelt und im Lager ausgetrocknet - knochentrocken. Das Griffende im Auge war beim Einschlagen der Keile gesplittert und kleine Öffnungen waren zu sehen. Dennoch saß der Kopf fest.
Nach 6-7 Behandlungen mit lebensmitteltauglichem Paraffinöl ist das Holz nun saturiert und die Hohlräume haben sich geschlossen.
Das eckige obere Ende des Griffes ist unangenehm zu halten, sieht aber schön aus. 
Insgesamt eine schöne Axt für die Sammlung aber nicht unbedingt ein gutes Werkzeug.
