I have owned the smaller version of this particular knife before and was expecting it to meet the same high standards of construction. However, I was a little bit disappointed to find it lacking in its fits and finish. The knife on the hole is as I was expecting it with the blade being well-made and sharp out of the box and the frame looking particularly spectacular. Unfortunately, the knife did not lock securely enough in the open position every single time. I found that the thumb studs which also act as a stop against the frame of the knife when the blade is open was not meeting the frame symmetrically, i.e. one stud was doing all the work and denting the frame and the other side was not marked at all. As I’m an engineer, I decided I would remedy this issue and I set about filing and finishing off the side which was interfering with the thumb stud and remove some of the material. This went well and the knife looks like it hasn’t been touched by me or anybody else. The knives locking improved slightly, but there were still movement in the mechanism which is disconcerting. I then strip the knife down and tension the spring/lock mechanism so that it would apply more pressure to the back of the blade when opened. The knife is now working as intended and is a joy to use, but I’m disappointed that I had to repair the Product that cost well over £170. I could’ve have. sent it back, but this would’ve been awkward due to the nature of Brexit in this country and that’s why I made the decision to repair it.
