This **Hultafors Wetterhall Premium Viking/throwing axe** is enhanced with a double-sided head. This type of axe was originally used by lumberjacks. They used one side for the rough work and the other for the more precise tasks. Today this axe is mostly used at throwing contests. This axe is meant to be thrown forward from behind your back over your head with two hands. Do, however, make sure you don't hit yourself in the back! It comes with a leather sheath.

## Axe head

The axe head is forged from Swedish axe steel. The edge is hardened to make sure it is strong enough to stay sharp without breaking, but can also be sharpened. Basically everything you like to see in an axe head. The Hultafors axes are reliable and will last a lifetime. That is why Hultafors gives a lifetime warranty on the axe head of all Premium axes.

## Axe handles

Hultafors uses American hickory wood for the handles. This type of wood is exceptional in absorbing blows without breaking. As such it is perfect as a steel for hammers and, of course, axes. 

## Characteristics of Hultafors Premium axes

The axe heads used for the Hultafors Premium collection are forged in the same way as the heads used for the Agdor axes. The remarkable aspect of the Premium collection, however, is that they are mostly made by hand. After forging the axes are namely finished on belt sanders by skilled craftsman. First the geometry of the head is refined. Afterwards the heads are hardened and tempered to 55 HRC. 

After that a Premium axe is sharpened. By hand! Until every edge will shine like a mirror. Finally the head is enhanced with a handle and a premium sheath.
