The **Casström Lars Fält Knife Blade 13218** is an amazing outdoor knife, designed by outdoor legend Lars Fält. This is only the blade of the knife. As such you can make the handle yourself. Choose a material (not included) and get to work!

 The blade has a traditional drop point shape. As such you can easily use it during wood work. The edge has a scandi grind. This is also optimal for wood work and very easy to sharpen. The blade is made from Sleipner steel. This is a type of steel that is similar to the D2-steel. Very tough and easy to sharpen. Important to oil the blade after use: Sleipner is not stainless. 
The holes in the handle have a diameter of 5.0 mm. This allows you to adjust the pins for the handle. There is also a hole for a lanyard tube. This hole has a diameter of 7.0 mm.

 ## Tips for making your own handle

 Choose the right material. Purchase a piece of G10, micarta or other type of hard wood. Olive wood or ebony, for instance. You need pins to secure the scales. Take, for instance, a brass rod, which is available in almost every hardware store. In terms of glue we recommend an epoxy/two-component adhesive. The rule of thumb here is: the longer it takes to dry, the stronger the connection will be. Properly degrease the surface before using the glue, and roughen the parts of the blade and the scales with coarse sandpaper before you add the glue for optimal adhesion.

  **Please note: making your own knives (and all other DIY projects) is not without risk. That is why you should always use safety goggles, gloves and respiratory protection. The knife is already relatively sharp so we recommend adding some tape to the edge before you get to work. Knivesandtools is not liable in case of an accident or when you damage your knife.**
