## How to use a chef's knife

A chef's knife is suited for most cutting tasks, but less s for precise peeling tasks. The chef's knife has a high blade. You use a safe cutting technique by placing the fingers you use to hold the product against the side of the blade. One of the most used cutting techniques is where the tip of the knife leans on the cutting board and the knife is moved up and down and from front to back. A type of rocking movement. ## About the blade

The blades of the [Eden Essentials knives](/en/ct/eden-essentials.htm) is made from X50CrMoV15 steel. A type of steel often used by many renowned brands. The steel can handle rust and is easy to sharpen. The blade of the Eden Essentials knives is thin over the entire width of the blade. As such the cutting resistance is remarkably low for a western knife. This means it is easy to use.

## Handle of the Eden Essentials knives

The classic handle feels great in hand. The knife's blade runs all the way through the handle, which is known as a full-tang construction. This classic German handle - to be recognized by the three rivets - is made from polyoxymethylene. A sustainable, hard plastic. The material is easy to clean.

## Easy maintenance

Each knife needs to be sharpened in time. Fortunately this is a piece of cake for this steel. Quickly moving your knife over a [sharpening steel](/en/ct/sharpening-steel.htm) or [sharpening stones](/en/ct/sharpening-stones-and-whetstones.htm) is a piece of cake. To make sure the knife stays sharp, the edge should never come in contact with other knives. That is why we recommend storing your knives in a [knife block](/en/ct/empty-knife-blocks.htm) or hang them from a [knife magnet](/en/ct/eden-magnetic-knife-holder.htm). You also make sure your knives stay sharp longer by not using them on cutting boards that are harder than the steel of the blade. Think of cutting boards made from glass, porcelain or stone. Always use cutting boards made from wood or plastic. 

The Eden Essentials kitchen knives are dishwasher proof, but we recommend washing them by hand. As such the material is not affected and you will enjoy your knives even longer. Putting them in the dishwasher once is not a problem. If you do this more often, however, the detergents can affect the hardened steel and plastic. With rust stains on the blade and dull handles as a possible result. In addition, it is possible that the knife could come into contact with other hard items in the dishwasher. This could damage the edge.

Gekocht om ook in de caravan een redelijk koksmes te hebben. En dat is precies wat het is. Zodra je de vergelijking gaat maken met een mes van een A-merk merk je het prijs-, en snijverschil. De balans vind ik niet helemaal fijn en bijvoorbeeld bij brunoise snijden moet je je aandacht er veel beter bij hebben dan bij mijn duurdere messen.  Ik zou ‘m niet opnieuw kopen, maar iets meer uitgeven voor meer snijplezier
