The **Condor Low Drag 2814-6.5HC** is a large and relatively light-weight outdoor knife. Relatively, because with 305 grams it still isn't light as a feather, but with a blade length of 16.7 cm it is a great weight. Condor states that the Low Drag Knife is great as a no-nonsense knife that can quickly tackle a lot of work. Looking for a larger survival knife or bushcraft knife? If so the Low Drag Knife is the perfect solution!



The blade is made from 1075 carbon steel. This is a strong steel that is easy to sharpen, and can also take quite a beating. 1075, however, is not completely stainless, so you need to clean it regularly and add a drop of oil once in a while. The knife has a strong full-tang construction. This means that the thickness of the blade runs throughout the entire handle.



The handle is made from micarta. The Condor Low Drag Knife comes with a solid leather sheath with a belt loop that has enough room for belts up to 7.2 cm wide. There is also a loop for a firesteel.

OK, ich hab es wieder getan.
Nachdem ich mein erstes LowDrag einer guten Bekannten vermacht habe (die es liebt) musste ich es nochmal eines für mich kaufen.
Dieses Modell ist einfach zu genial, ein so vielseitig einsetzbarer Schneid- und Batonierteufel ich hab es vermisst. Es gibt keinen Ersatz dafür
 Vielleicht dzt. das beste Messer am Markt?

Was ein Messer!
Großes Messer für vielseitige Anwendungen.
Der Schliff macht dem Namen "LowDragKnife" alle Ehre, ist ein großer Schneidteufel.
Die Primärfase am Klingenspiegel ist als Flachschliff ausgeführt, vorne drauf als Sekundärfase im Scandi-Stil - eine gute Wahl: das Ding beißt einfach, ist gut zum Schneiden, choppen und Batonieren gleichermaßen.
Der Griff aus Micarta einfach nur toll, meiner Ansicht nach das beste Material.
Der Stahl mit 0,7%C auch eine gute Wahl, allerdings neigt die Klinge beim Choppen auf härtere Sachen wie ausgetrockneten Ästen von Fichten leicht zum Rollen da der Schneidfasenwinkel hier sehr klein und fein ausgeführt ist. Aber weichere Ziele wie zB. Efeu von Bäumen zu entfernen ist eine Wonne. Das Ding beißt einfach rein wie eine Machete ist eben nur etwas kürzer.
Schärfbarkeit des Stahls ist sehr gut, die Schneide nimmt schnell eine beängstigende Schärfe an, der Grat geht leicht abzuziehen.
OK. Also nicht der härteste Stahl, die Schneidhaltigkeit nicht so gut dafür ein scharfer, zäher Prügel der beinahe alles aushält und mitmacht.
Fazit: Kein Messer das in die Vitrine kommt, sondern benutzt werden will und viel Spaß macht. Eine gelungene Vereinigung unterschiedlicher Eigenschaften, der Preis wie bei alles Condor Messern ein Hammer.

Dit mes is een beetje understated - weinig reclame, geen fancy uiterlijk, maar veel waar voor je geld. Mooi groot maar niet te zwaar mes voor bushcraft, maar ook prima voor wat zwaarder tuinwerk. Fijn handvat. Prima prijsbewust alternatief voor bijv. de ESEE 6.

Fijn formaat buitenkeuken/kampeermes, echte alleskunner. De firesteel lus aan de stevige schede heb ik wat wijder geperst om een 10mm firesteel te kunnen gebruiken als borging voor het mes.
