The **Chris Reeve Umnumzaan** is a sleek pocket knife with a top-quality finish. Umnumzaan means 'The Boss'. An excellent name for this solid worker's knife. Chris Reeve designed the Umnumzaan as the strongest folding knife he could come up with, derived from his legendary Sebenza. This innovative pocket knife is enhanced with a ceramic bearing in the lock. The result is that the knife opens and closes smoothly, but also provides you with a nice detent. It means that the titanium lockbar doesn't come into contact with the back of the blade, but only the ceramic ball. Considering the fact that ceramics is much harder than titanium this is a very sustainable solution. Exceptionally difficult to produce, but that is exactly what Chris Reeve is known for.



The hollow grind blade is enhanced with a manually applied edge that is made from CPM S45VN. This is an advanced power metallurgical type of steel. You can easily open the knife with one hand thanks to the thumb studs on both sides of the blade. At first this might take some getting used to, but our tip is: push the thumb stud forward, instead of to the side. The thumb studs also serve as a stop pin. The stop pin is surrounded by two polyurethane o-rings. These absorb the blows of the lock. A solution once invented by Grant & Gavin Hawk. When the knife is closed a tip is sticking out from the handle. This protrusion can be used as a glass breaker.


The handle, made from top-quality titanium, is sandblasted and enhanced with a cross-shaped pattern. As such you have enough grip over the knife. The blade is enhanced with a stonewashed finish. This can best be described as a kind of satin gloss; it is not completely matte, but also not completely polished. As a result traces of use will hardly stand out.


The Chris Reeve Umnumzaan is very popular. Soldiers, but also enthusiasts who love good tools appreciate this innovative design.

Une pure merveille, mais qu'il faut prendre le temps de s'approprier.
Le mécanisme est très fluide, mais n'est pas du tout explosif avant un vrai rodage. Le positionnement du pouce sur le thumb stud est particulier, et nécessite un peu de tests et de réflexion. Le contre tranchant quasi aiguisé à la pointe est au départ assez déconcertant.
Ceci dit, le Zaan est absolument sublime, fiable, quasi indestructible et ultra-performant.
On achète un peu un CRK comme on entre en religion, et soit vous adorerez soit vous détesterez mais il n'y a pas de juste milieu. 
Si vous recherchez un couteau d'une précision de fabrication et de finition parfaites, avec une mécanique fluide et constante vous ne serez pas déçus. Si par contre vous ne jurez que par les roulements à billes, et la multiplication des modes d'ouverture, vous risquez de passer à côté du "Chris Reeve spirit".

Top Verarbeitet kenne nichts vergleichbares, ich bekomme nur die Einhandöffnung nicht hin. Am besten testen, das Umnumzaan ist ein Traum was Handlage und Klingenform betrifft.
