The **WMF diamond sharpening steel**is enhanced with a diamond-coated sharpening layer. As such, it not only quickly removes material, the sharpening steel is also great for sharpening the hardest types of steel. The length of the sharpening steel means you can easily sharpen large kitchen knives. It is important not to apply too much force as you're sharpening your knives. Diamond won't wear out, but if you apply too much pressure it is possible you push the diamond particles out. With proper use, however, this sharpening steel will last for years!

This sharpening steel has an oval shape. The wide side is 1.5 cm and the narrow side 2 mm. The sharpening steel is 5 mm thick. The sharpening steel has a medium grain size of about 600 grit. The diamond sharpening steel needs to be 'worn in'. In the beginning, it will feel very coarse, but this should lessen a bit after a few sharpening turns. After this, the sharpening steel will have its intended effect.

## WMF sharpening steels

When choosing a sharpening steel, the choice of material is a major factor. As stated above, diamond-coated sharpening steels do not wear out and can last a lifetime. Ceramic sharpening steels do wear, but have the advantage of removing slightly less material. This makes them better for the lifespan of your knives, if you sharpen them often.
