The **Kershaw Emerson CQC-4KXL D2** is the largest Kershaw Emerson knife so far. The 9.9 cm long 8Cr14MoV blade is quite large for a Kershaw pocket knife. The top half of the blade is enhanced with a slightly matted finish. The hollow-grind part has a stonewashed finish. This combination is quite rare, we often see that the hollow-grind part of the blade is enhanced with a matt finish.

 Characterizing about a knife designed by Emerson is the Emerson wave on the spine of the blade. When you carry the knife in your pocket with the pocket clip and pull it out, the wave will get caught behind the edge of your pocket. As such the knife opens as you take it out, making sure you can quickly get to work.

 This D2 edition has a blade made from D2 steel. This is a tough type of steel that retains it sharpness well. An excellent option for a knife in this price range. Tip: D2 is not completely stainless. Acids, salt and moisture could cause rust or discolouration in time. As such you should always clean it after use and occasionally add a couple drops of oil to the blade.

Out of the box ein wenig schwergängig aber ordentlich scharf, die Klinge sitzt schön mittig, hat kein Spiel und ist sauber geschliffen. Der Framelock Sitz blockiert optimal und beim ersten Bespielen zeigen sich keine störenderen Kanten. Auch, wenn es nicht von Ernest Emerson produziert wurde, weiß die Kooperation mit Kershaw ( aus chinesischer Produktion) zu gefallen.
