The **Helle Fossekallen** is an all-round outdoor knife. Its name is derived from Norway's national bird, the Fossekall, known to us as the dipper. The knife feels great in hand and offers sufficient grip during long-term use. It is a somewhat smaller knife, ideal for bushcrafters with small or average hands. The knife comes with a leather sheath.

## Helle Fossekallen 12C27 stainless steel blade

This version of the Helle Fjellkniven has a Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel blade. This is a hard steel that is not prone to rust or unwanted spots. In addition, you can also easily sharpen it yourself if the knife starts to lose some of its sharpness over time. The knife has a 'stick tang'. This is a traditional way of securing a blade to a handle, originating from the time when all knives were still forged. It means the knife is lightweight, 

## Helle Fossekallen curly birchwood handle

The handle is made from a single piece of curly birch. This is a golden-brown wood with a wavy pattern. Because of this, no two handles will be the same. The handle is sanded, polished and oiled by hand to give it its unique character.

## Helle Fossekallen maintenance

Both the handle and the blade need to be dried with a soft towel if they get wet. We also recommended occasionally adding wax or oil. The sheath should occasionally be impregnated with a colourless agent (grease or wax) to make sure it stays supple. Dry the sheath carefully at room temperature if it gets wet. All Helle knives are made and finished by hand. This can lead to subtle differences, making each knife a unique masterpiece.
