## Why a pressure skillet?

You use a pressure cooker when you want to shorten the cooking time of a specific dish. A stew that would take ages to cook will be finished a lot sooner in a pressure cooker, for instance. This is because you put the ingredients under a lot of pressure in a pressure cooker. You will save up to 70% of your time. Also, when cooking vegetables the vitamins are much better preserved. So not only more efficient, also healthier.

## Differences between pressure cookers and skillets

The [Vitavit Premium collection](/en/ct/buying-fissler-pressure-cooker.htm) contains pressure cookers and skillets. What are the differences between the two? It all has to do with the height of the pan. The skillet is lower than the cooking pot. As such, the pan is pressurized much faster, but has less room for food. It is the perfect pan if you only wish to prepare small amounts of food. 

## Complete control over the cooking process

The Vitavit Premium pressure cookers are enhanced with four cooking levels which you choose with the help of the knob on top of the pan. As such you have complete control over the cooking process. From gentle to fast cooking, from low to high pressure, you decide. The lowest mode is great for delicate dishes such as fish. Many meat dishes are great for higher temperatures. Unique about this collection is that these are the only pressure cookers with a steam mode. By setting it to the steam mode, you don't exert pressure in the pan. You, of course, use this mode to steam ingredients. 

## Clever design

Because of a clever design Fissler made sure using and maintaining the pans from the Vitavit Premium collection is a piece of cake. Think of:

  * A handle that was designed as such that it feels great in hand, but also won't easily slip from your hands if they are wet.
  * A second small handle attached to the pan to make sure holding it becomes even easier.
  * The handle can be folded for easy storage.
  * The lid of the pan can be removed when you clean it.
  * The insides of the pan contain capacity measurements.
  * If you own multiple different-sized pans, or if you own a pressure cooker you can stack them.
  * Because of the unique Fissler CookStar base the pans can be used on all cooking hobs.
  * The pans are dishwasher proof, the handles, rubber seal and knob are not.

## 18/10 stainless steel

The pans are made from top-quality 18/10 steel. This number represents the percentage of chromium and nickel in the material: 18% chromium and 10% nickel. Chromium is very sustainable and corrosion resistant. Or, it ensures that the steel is corrosion resistant. The nickel ensures that the pans retain their shine and don't become dull.

## Novogrill base

The pans from the Vitavit Premium collection are enhanced with a Novogrill base. This is a unique Fissler base. The surface ensures that any moisture and fat that is released falls into the space between the ridges, like with a grill pan. As such you can also use the pans to grill ingredients. Because of the Novogrill surface roasting meat will be a piece of cake. Great if you want to sear the meat for your stew before you put pressure on it.
