The **CRKT M16** is probably the most iconic CRKT model ever designed. This knife, which was designed by Kit Carson is an homage to the M16 assault rifle, has been around for quite some time. This M16-04KS is a large tanto version. You open it with the flipper or double thumb stud. Because the flipper serves as a support for your finger when opened, slipping and ending up on the blade is almost impossible. 

This version of the M16 is enhanced with a couple cool upgrades: an assisted opening mechanism, a deadbolt lock and D2 steel. The assisted opening ensures that you can quickly open the knife with the flipper. This mechanism is namely enhanced with a spring that supports you when you open the knife.

Once opened the Deadbolt Lock will provide you with a solid lock. The unique part of the Deadbolt lock is the hardened steel wedge that falls into the cut-outs in the blade This construction is so strong it can handle quite a lot. Using it is also easy: you simply press the large pivot to close the blade.

The blade is made from D2 steel. This is a tough type of steel that can handle its own. Do, however, be careful with acids. D2 steel is namely not completely stainless.

The blade and frame are both enhanced with a matt-black coating. As such you prevent rust and reflections. It also looks *bad ass*.
