This **Combekk The Original Dutch Oven casserole 28 cm** is a very special product made from old train rails! When you see the box for the first time you immediately know you are dealing with a unique product, this Combekk is made of 100% recycled cast iron. In addition, the lid of this cocotte has a very ornate brass button that has been numbered. The 6-litre capacity is perfect for dishes for about 4 to 6 people!

## Combekk recycled cast iron

This pan is made from cast iron, so you can enjoy its beautiful design for life. A solid cast-iron pan is very versatile.​ Cooking, roasting, baking, stewing or even frying: it is all possible. Cast iron retains the temperature for a long time and slowly releases it. This can be either a high or low temperature. As such the pan is also great to keep dishes cool or frozen in the fridge or freezer. Once cooled the pan could, for instance, be used as a serving dish on hot summer's day. The heavy lid completely seals off the pan and keeps fumes, juices and flavours in the pan. These pans can be used on all heat sources, including the oven!

The name 'Dutch Oven' refers to an originally Dutch production technique. Combekk also uses this technique to produce all its pans. This makes Combekk the only manufacturer that actually produces its Dutch Oven pans in the Netherlands. The Dutch oven is back!

## Pans with no PFAS, PFOA or PTFE

The abbreviation PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. These are man-made substances that don't naturally occur in the environment. Some examples of PFAS are GenX, PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) and PFOS (perfluorooctanesulfonic acids). PFAS is an umbrella term for all these substances, which are used in many products, including frying pans, grill pans and wok pans. PFAS have useful properties: among other things, they are repellent to water, grease and dirt. However, we now know that PFAS can be harmful to health. 

Teflon is the commercial name for various plastic fluoropolymers, such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). PFAS is used to make these plastic fluoropolymers. Teflon provides the product with a water-repellent and dirt-repellent layer, and it is also heat-resistant. PTFE also allows two surfaces to slide over each other easily. That is why PTFE is found in pans with a non-stick coating. In other words: they're all the same thing. **This pan is free from PFAS, PFOA and PTFE**.
