The blade of the Benchmade Lowden 491 Stonewashed M390, Crater Blue Aluminium, pocket knife is made of Böhler M390. This is premium steel from Austria that is immensely popular for pocket knives, because M390 stays sharp for an incredibly long time. Moreover, it's very stainless. This makes it an excellent choice for a pocket knife you carry with you every day. Because M390 is incredibly hard, we recommend sharpening this pocket knife with diamond sharpening stones or ceramic sharpening stones, or a sharpening system that uses these sharpening stones.
