The **Bark River Shining Mountain Bowie** is a large and impressive bowie knife. Truly a knife that will bring a smile to your face when you hold it. The design is inspired by the world-famous Iron Mistress bowie from John Nelson Cooper.



The blade is made from A2 tool steel. A strong type of steel that would rather bend than break. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: A2 is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).



The handle of the Bark RIver Shining Mountain Bowie is made from *stacked leather*. These are stacked leather discs which, combined, form one comfortable handle. On both sides the handle is flanked by an aluminium knife guard and pommel. The amount of manual labour involved is unimaginable for a (semi-)production knife such as this.



The Bark River Shining Mountain Bowie comes with a luxurious leather belt sheath.



Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when you are working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
