The **Bark River North Country EDC** is a compact fixed knife, with a nice round belly. The idea for this design was to come up with a short knife, with an, as large as possible, cutting surface. The North Country EDC is the result. With a blade length of 9 cm on a total length of 19.6 cm with a full-size handle, we can only say Bark River was very successful. Because of its curved belly it is great as a hunting knife, but you can even use it as a general outdoor knife or even as an outdoor EDC knife!



The blade is made from CPM 154. A premium type of stainless steel that retains its sharpness well. As you might expect from Bark River the knife is razor-sharp. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).



The handle is made from canvas micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances.



The Bark River North Country EDC comes with a nice leather belt sheath. It is enhanced with a strong magnet that will ensure the knife stays in place. The sheath is great for both left and right-handed use (max. belt width 5.2 cm). 



Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.

Knife isn’t eqaly grined. Swedge isn’ t equaly grind. It is a nice knife, but for that price should be perfect.

Das Messer liegt auf jeden Fall sicher und angenehm in der Hand. Für längere outdoor Aktivitäten ist es eine gute Wahl. Das Messer wurde rasiermesserscharf geliefert und der Stahl ist wirklich extrem schnitthaltig - bin beeindruckt!
Schwach hingegen ist die Lederscheide von Bark River. Hier gibt es ein dickes Minus von mir! In der Innenseite der Scheide verläuft eine Naht/Faden, welche mit der Halterung für den Gürtel verbunden ist. Da das Messer sehr spitz und auch scharf ist, bleibt es natürlich auch nicht aus, das die Klinge diese Naht beim Einführen in die Lederschneide berührt und leider auch beschädigt. Das war bzw. ist bei mir der Fall. Das Problem liegt auf der Hand.....: die Naht wird durchtrennt, die Halterung für den Gürtel löst sich und man kann das Messer verlieren. Bin mal gespannt wie sich Bark River Knives verhält und ob ich eine neue bessere/optimierte Scheide erhalten werde.
