The **Bark River Mini Aurora** is the baby brother of the famous Bark River Aurora. You immediately recognize the pointed blade and the slim profile. This Mini, however, is slightly shorter than the regular Aurora. This knife was developed as the ultimate bushcraft knife. Prototypes of the Aurora were extensively tested by bushcraft experts in North America and Europe. The Aurora was then perfected based on their feedback. The result is a truly fantastic outdoor knife. The pointed tip is great for detailed tasks and the spine of the blade is perfect for a firesteel.

The blade is made from CPM 3V steel, a tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. It is very hard to break, and also retains its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean it after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by [stropping](/en/ct/stropping.htm) it.

The handle itself is made from linen micarta. which is a strong and lightweight material made from linen and synthetic resin. It feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold conditions. Bark River used a matt finish for this model. In this case the pins are hollow, which is great if you want to attach your knife to a stick as a fishing spear.

The Bark River Mini Aurora comes with a leather belt sheath. You can carry it either upright (belt width up to 5.5 cm) or diagonally (belt width up to 6.0 cm).

Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos. Therefore the knife you receive might be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
