The **Bark River Gunny** is a compact version of the Bravo 1. Originally this knife was designed for (para)military use. Soon, however, it became clear that this knife could do so much more. Today the Gunny is a popular knife amongst bushcraft enthusiasts and hunters. It is solidly constructed with enough blade thickness for the more demanding tasks. At the same time, it's lightweight enough to take with you on hikes. This is an ideal knife that can be used for many purposes. For this 'rampless' edition the 'ramp' is missing on the spine of the blade.

The blade is made from A2 tool steel, a strong steel that would sooner bend rather than break. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: A2 is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean it after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by [stropping](/en/ct/stropping.htm) it.

The handle is made of canvas micarta, which is a strong and lightweight material made from linen and synthetic resin. It feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold conditions.

The Bark River Gunny Hunter comes with a leather belt sheath.

Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos.
