The **Bark River Bravo 2 Desert Ironwood** was designed for (para)military use, specifically for the United States' Marine Corps. Soon, however, it became clear that this knife could do so much more. Today the Bravo 1 is a beloved knife amongst bushcraft enthusiasts and hunters. It is solidly constructed, with enough blade thickness for heavy-duty tasks. Perfect for woodworking, gutting game and many other outdoor tasks. This is the longer brother of the original Bravo 1. The blade of the 2 is no less than 18 cm long! This is the only difference, the position of the thumb ramp and the handle are the same. 

The Bark River Bravo 2 comes with a leather belt sheath. It can also be worn horizontally.

## Blade Bark River Bravo 2

On the spine of the blade you find the so-called ramp. This is a small protrusion with serrations on one side. Intuitively the ramp appears to be a little too far back for natural placement of the thumb. However, you're meant to place your thumb just in front of the ramp. This makes it easier to apply force during tasks that require greater precision. The serrated edge of the ramp is shaped to make it really easy to produce sparks with a firesteel.

The blade is made from A2 tool steel, A strong steel that would sooner bend rather than break. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: A2 is not completely stainless. . ## Handle Bark River Bravo 2 Desert Ironwood

The handle is made from Desert Ironwood, A solid type of hardwood mainly found in the United States and Mexico. It has a distinctive colour and a beautiful grain pattern. This stunning wood makes the knife look extra luxurious. 

Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos.
